Facial Augmentation
As we grow older, our lips become smaller and our smile lines become
deeper. One method to correct this process is to inject collagen.
At the Stanford Advanced Skin Care Center we currently use two types of collagen,
one of which requires allergy testing before use. The augmentation
is quick and with minimum discomfort. The augmentation lasts approximately
3-4 months. The injection can be repeated, if desired.
Recovery Time: Noneminor bruising or swelling
Face Lifting
While we perform full face lifts at the Stanford Advanced Skin Care Center,
our philosophy is to give you as natural and refreshed appearance
as possible. Our most popular facelifts tend to be "mini"
to moderate facelifts which will gently reduce your jowls with smaller
incisions placed in front of your ears. This minimizes the size
of the scar. This procedure is usually combined with neck liposuction
and sometimes laser resurfacing.
Recovery Time: Mini- moderate face lift: One week. Full face
lift: 2 weeks.

Lip Augmentation
As we age our lips become thinner and less full. At the Stanford
Advanced Skin Care Center, we can slow down this process by injecting either
collagen, fat or using other filler substances, all of which are
minimally invasive. There are also surgical procedures which may
more permanently increase lip fullness.
Recovery Time: None to 1 week.
Facial Light Rejuvenation
Because of the intensity of the California sun, and since most us
also enjoy the outdoors, sun damage is inevitable. Intense pulsed
light is a minimally invasive method to reduce this damage. It uses
high energy light to diminish red spots, spider veins, and dark
(sun or liver) spots. Intense pulsed light can also be effective
for the redness from rosacea. It also reduces pore size, and provides
a smoother, skin texture. The skin color is brighter, yet more homogenous
in color. The procedure requires 30 minutes, and is repeated every
three weeks. To produce optimal results, five treatments are required.
Recovery Time: Nonemild swelling and redness.
Fat Transfer
Fat transfer is another method for facial augmentation using your
own fat. It can be used for enlarging lips, filling in smile lines,
augmenting hollowing of the cheeks, or filling other defects. It
is an outpatient procedure with minimal discomfort. For the best
long term results, we at the Stanford Advanced Skin Care Center recommend
three treatments every two months. This generally will result in
a 70% correction.
Recovery Time: A long weekend.

Medical Micropigmentation
Micropigmentation, or Permanent Cosmetics/Permanent Makeup, is the process of implanting hypoallergenic pigments below the epidermis layer of the skin for corrective or cosmetic procedures. Regardless of the body area or the technique, the concept is always the same. The pigment, once healed, will stay in the skin for a number of years, breaking down and fading with time, depending on age and skin type of the individual. The process is used to improve the appearance of scars and discolorations from cleft palate, birthmarks, freckles, stretch marks, non-pigmented age spots, facelifts, tummy tucks, to reconstruct the nipple/areola breast area, or to camouflage a facelift, as well as to treat the appearance of port-wine stains and vitiligo.
